American Cancer Society updates its colorectal cancer screening guideline: New recommendation is to start screening at age 45 years. Cancer. 2018 Sep 15;124(18):3631-3632.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) issued a new colorectal cancer screening guideline in May, advising that screening begin at age 45 years for individuals at average risk of the disease. The change from its previous guideline, which recommended that screening start at age 50 years, was prompted mainly by an increasing incidence of the disease among young and middle‐aged populations.

ESGE recommends against routine preoperative biliary drainage in patients with malignant extrahepatic biliary obstruction; preoperative biliary drainage should be reserved for patients with cholangitis, severe symptomatic jaundice (e. g., intense pruritus), or delayed surgery, or for before neoadjuvant chemotherapy in jaundiced patients. Strong recommendation, moderate quality evidence.
